I'm pretty sure one or both of the fans on my NH D14 are making an awful buzzing sound so i want to replace them with a couple of my Akasa Apache's and see how things go.

As far as I can tell the wire clips on the fans cant come out and so I was wondering if there might be some trick to getting them off without damaging anything so i can use them with the Apache's.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

[Edit] Nevermind, managed to figure it out. Mods please feel free to delete this now useless thead :)

yh they can and ive also got two akasa apaches on my d14,its utterly silent compared to the stock noctua fans and cooling is just the same

theres a little black plastic lug with a hole in it that the wire clip fits through, just put the lug on the akasa fan mounting hole and thread the wire clip through it,then clip it onto the cooler

whats the noise like now?

Noise is definitely better. Not massively quieter but its a softer more consistent noise so its easier on the ear.

They come off with a bit of a tug be careful though the plastic hooks aren't exactly that robust.
