I have NHL2K6 and I've downloaded both demos of the above games from the Marketplace but the NHL 07 demo only allows you to play a penalty shootout which doesn't really give you a feel for how the game will play, although I like the idea of using the right-hand stick for puck control.

After playing the NHL2k7 demo, it feel like much of the same, which is OK I suppose but I'm not sure which one to get.

My housemate went out and got NHL 07 the other day, having played many an ice hockey game in the past. I've never played one before and didn't even know the rules. Due to the new control system though we were pretty evenly matched, and I found myself laughing uncontrollably half the time!

I was pretty impressed with the graphics, the ice especially, which deteriorates over the course of the match. The players look a bit potatoish in close-up but you rarely see that anyway. The soundtrack is fairly good too, if a little odd. No idea why they chose to have indie emo-rock over the menus - it feels a bit out of place.

Can't speak for NHL2K7 of course, but I've found NHL 07 fairly enjoyable so far (as a beginner). I didn't think NHL2K7 was out over here yet though?

I really didnt like 2k6 its my least fav game i have bought. I'm tempted to buy NHL07 but i want to play it first and i dont just mean a shootout.

A freind is getting it so i'll have a go on his before i spend.

Ah the age old question that get's them fighting in the aisles as much as proevo v's fifa, nhl or 2k.

I've played both and I'm with House NHL 2k6 was an awful game but that isn't the issue here.

NHL07 is a complete rebuild especially for the 360, anyone on xbox or pc etc is using the old engine with very few changes, the 360 version has a brand new graphics engine and it is fantastic. The goalies are slick to the ice and the crowd are very realistic, as are the players features.

The new skill stick takes a bit of getting used to but it allows you to pull of some fantastic moves once you're used to it (just don't expect to win any face offs, they are really hard).

The salary cap is included as a feature of the new dynasty mode but you can turn it off if you wish. The dynasty mode is pretty in depth if you so wish but you can just play through a season without going to deep if you wish.

On line the game is superb, with the Ea servers matching your experience points with a similar player, so you don't get burnt off the ice every game.

All in all a great game that I love far more than 2k that I had last year, go buy it.
