NHL 11 Demo is out on Xbox Live!

Personally I have been waiting for this one, played NHL 09 loads with one of my house mates and it is incredible 2 player fun, despite not being interested in hockey before hand. The NHL series has got me into hockey and I think the sport is great.

So try NHL 11, hockey fan or not!

I buy most EA sports games on a alternate cycle (the ones I get), Hockey and Fifa are up this year whats new in the Hockey since 09?

Thanks for letting us know.

I'm the same.. I used to play NHL 2003 and NHL Hitz on the PS2, but since then I've not really been interested in NHL.

Then I picked up the demo for NHL10, and a few games later I had fallen in love with it. Me and my brother play against each other all the time.

One of the things I like most is that the skill stick makes shooting feel really natural.

Definitely gonna download this later.

I haven 't play NHL since 2003 - back on the PC I think... Last NHL console game I owned was back on the SNES... Wow, that's quite a while ago..

NHL Hockey is a fantastic sports game... I remember you'd start a hockey game, and a boxing match would break out.. two games in one..!! lol

I might get the demo and give it a go but I think my time will be spent playing F1 2010... Still, give it a whirl.. Why not.

Downloaded off psn last night, havent played it yet but i always have an irrational love of NHL games despite never actually owning one :)

I think I'll be picking it up again this year. Hard to tell properly without access to slider options but AI seems better.

Face-offs add more variety as do the hits. Broken sticks seems ok for me i.e one or two per period and not every other shot. More variety again with that new league using cards to improve players skill. So plenty of options in how you want to play the game.

Also no waiting for replays to start before getting back into the game.

Good to be able to set up shots from the blue line again as I hated the uncertainty of passes back there ending up near my goalie in the last couple of releases.

Line and formation selections in game was slower though and with a reduced time to do it. Almost the same commentary as well.

Good value though. A must buy for any football fans becoming bored with Fifa and PES. Or even ones that aren't! And even for non football fans that don't know much about hockey. Good pick up and play game that you can adjust to your own ability.

Wow these games have changed a lot since i last played one, trying to get the hang of the controls at the minute, still having difficulty with the defensive side of things...

Managed to score once though!

Any tips on scoring? I've always had trouble with this on NHL :D

I can get enough shots off, just never past the goal keeper! I am aiming it mostly high and mostly powerful shots from about half way between the blue line and the goal line.

Edit: Haha, typical. As soon as I post that, I have another game, 3 goals in the 3rd quarter on the demo! I even scored a 1 on 1 which I don't think I have done in about 50 hours of NHL play.

I found that if you were to skate up the side in line with the enemy goal (where you would face off after a penalty sort of area) and pass across the front of the goal the keeper will be caught off guard sometimes and you can just fire a quick shot in

Quick passing, broken plays, hitting it in beyond the vision of the keeper.

You'll see it easily when the slow mo comes up. The beauty of the game though, it all plays so fast you do whats natural and intuitive on a constant basis, that little window opportunity thats the difference between a goal or not is something you'll see within the blink of an eye.

When you drop that split second moment and you score, why there's sooo much satisfaction and feel good.

Ofc you might just be a deke master, ignore all that:)

Missed out on last years, ill grab the demo tomorrow... Ea seem to be recycling ideas from NHL of old, hopefully it'll make it a purchase.

Just try one timers when there's traffic in front of the net you might get a deflection if you're lucky or the shot my just go straight in from the one timer, shoot with the defensemen from the points, try rebounds and try setting up in the office behind the net if the other stuff fails. You can pass into the slot area from behind the net and a lot of the time the goaltender won't be able to turn his head in time but you need to have a skater open in the slot. The other way is to use a wrist shot on the blocker side of the goaltender, that works a lot in NHL10 as he can't get the blocker up in time if you aim for the top corner of the net. :)

played 2009 for a while until the kids broke the disc. Picked up 2010 for something like £8 recently and am in the middle of my first season. Not sure if i'll go with 2011 unless there are some MAJOR changes compared to 2010 which amount to more than just a roster update.

Is it close to the real thing? no, but the NHL series is about as good as it gets without geting out on the ice, taking a hit or two, and scoring the game winner in OT in the final game of the season!! :)

Downloaded the demo and ran through the training which was very much needed. Tried to play a game without going through the tutorials, big mistake…. lol

Finally worked out that you use the left and right analogue sticks – hey its been a long time since I’ve played an NHL game but wow what a game. Very addictive and I went to purchase it…. Its not out yet, not out till about the same time as Codemasters F1 2010. Bugger..
