Got this earlier today, well not on purpose, I went to buy NHL 12 because that was £15 (NHL 13 was £30) get home and open the NHL 12 box to find an NHL 13 disc, I don't think I'll be going back telling them they made a mistake .
But anyway, just had a quick go and it does seem pretty damn awesome for someone into their ice hockey. Unfortunately that someone is not me, I know zero about ice hockey, literally nothing, the last hockey game I played a lot was NHLPA on the mega drive, which was of course a simple representation of the sport.
So what are the basics I need to know? I'm not looking for and A to Z of hockey, i'll pick up most as I play, but is there anything I kinda need to know to give me a better idea of what I'm doing? Lineups, they're essentially the hockey version of substitutes right? Does the game do these itself or do I need to choose when to do them manually? Control, is there a control method that's accepted as being the best? I'm trying to avoid classic controls because I imagine I'll lose too much of what the game is about by trying to make it that simple. Basically any tips you would give to a noob of the sport let alone the series of games, I am just that noob, so fire away if you have anything .
Was looking to pick this up but but may wait until 14 comes out as I have certifications to study for at the mo.
Apart from the NHL13 demo on PS3 the last one I owned was NHL 98 on the PC...
