Just got this today for the PS3 through the post. Not my usual type of game but I thought what the hell as it was only £20 delivered off the bay.

First thoughts are that it could be a lot of fun even though the cut scene graphics are a bit rubbish but in game is fine.

Finding it really hard to score at the moment and can't remember any of the rules as the last hockey game I played was NHL 93 on the megadrive - jeez how time flies.

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear any tips or thoughts you lot have on the game.

Its hard to score thats for sure. I score a lot of one timers. Or hit a hard shot from midway into their half and then button mash x on the rebound. I don't really do any line changes I have it set to auto and let the AI swap my men out. Online I'm not doing to bad. Just need to turn OT losses into wins.

I looked on xbox.com for scoring tips and it seems its just much harder to score this time around. Plus I dont win enough face offs.

Pass the puck across the net to another player fairly close to the net, hit a first timer and you may well score.

Just like in the real thing....

You do this because the minder will find it hard to move very quickly to the other side of the net and thus improve your chances of scoring, esp if the puck is about a foot off the ground.

Hope that helps!

Or pass the puck to your pointman (defence) who will be on the blud line who will slap the puck in, minder may well spill the puck and the forwards should be ready to take any scraps ;)

One on one goals are always tricking in hockey unless you can move the puck from left to right very quickly.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I think I'll have to try and stop dragging players out of position as well as I keep leaving my goalie with no protection.

Are you hitting your one timers using pro mode or just using a normal pass then hammering the shoot button befofre the puck reaches the next player?

I'm finally starting to score up to 4 goals per game on rookie mode and destroyed a guy online even though he was playing co-op with a mate.

The online options for this game seem very varied with the possibility of setting up tournaments and leagues (although I might well need to set up a static IP) and I'm finding the single player franchise mode a lot of fun at the moment although I'll have to do a bit of reading up on ice hockey as I don't get why you need all the diffent line types.

Looks like this will keep me busy enough until we get a decent Madden game on the PS3. :D

Anybody else got NHL 2K7 on the PS3 and fancy a bit of mutilplayer action some time?

My PSN ID is meths for those who don't know..

It can be frustrating online, I just battered another player but couldnt put them away. Yet he scores 4 one on ones. Little cheap dinks past my keeper, when he could barely get the puck off me.

Very few players seem to use manual shooting, I have my settings on intermediate for controls and AI shooting.

I definately think this is one of the fastest and frantic 360 online games, yet it's pretty much over looked. For £16 you can't go wrong.

Is the 2k version better than the traditional NHL one?

Personal choice really. Xbox forums are full of people arguing one way or the other. I got 2k because I liked the last one and it was dirt cheap.

Didnt realise you can play multiplayer on the same team. Pro Evo could take note from that. Just won a game 6-0 when they quit in the 3rd playing against 3 people on the same team. :D

10 wins 14 losses although my losses are not whuppings. Apart from one or two ranked games I'm pretty much holding my own now.

Fantastic game :)

Of course. Your on my list and I could do with some wins ;)

Will have to get this then. Played ice hockey since I was 11 and stopped at 22 (now 26), so once I get the hang of it I will send out some challenges :)
