Angilion, your guess of 5 cycles as the roughest of rough approximations seems to tally with what this fellow says, I'm not at all sure if he has worked out that 5125*5 doesn't equal 26,000 or that 5026*5 doesn't equal 26,000 either though.
Look if you want to get like that i could ask you to back up you're stuff with a reputable paper or multiple sources, but i don't see the point because this is an internet forum thread on a subject of already questionable material, what good would arguing with you over such mixed information be, the mayans came up with various cycles or the people of today have, im not making claims but it seems you are.
Yes things contradict in life, since when is that news, people also have opinions, or interpret info in different ways, believe things differently, there are few facts in a subject like this.![]()
Perhaps like the distance to the centre of the galaxy, theres a margin of error to be taken into account!
what exactly do our overlords get out this deal?
I mean it;s not like we produce much of anything or is just a fun pastime?

They get to add another solar system to their count of "places we are the overlords of", which might put them ahead of a competing team of overlords.
Could you give any links as to why you (or someone else) believes it to be a 26,000 year cycle? I've just quickly Googled and I see a few people flat out stating that 26,000 years is one cycle but very little in the way of calculations to back it up, Angilion has shown why 5026 years makes sense, could you do the same?

How come we can measure the mavity of dark matter but can;t pick up a sun just outside our system :/
There is a few things with this Niburu thing, for starters i would want to see it and apparently in Feb 09? we should even here in the Northern Hemisphere be able to see it, now IF (if it exists) it comes then fair enough
I believe there is this fact: some people do NOT under NO circumstance believe in ANY other life in the Universe and even IF aliens landed on the whitehouse lawn or outside their house for that matter they STILL would not believe in Aliens
as someone said just wait until 2012 soon find out if our conscious shifts a cycle

From the beginning of human life, people where always convinced that the 'end of life' is coming soon. This would be caused by either a god or something from outta space.
Causes of destruction of the earth are closer than you think. Either the sun dies and expands, therefore burning us to death. Or maybe that LHC device that is being built by CERN creates a black hole and kills all life on the planet...
People are going to evolve into a new kind of creature, that means if they don't kill each other first with a 3rd or 4th world war, after a few million years. If humans still exist when the sun expands, it's still useful to use some sun tanning creamSun wont kill us in 2012, it wont for at least another billion years, in 5 billion years or maybe 4.6 it'll swell into a red giant but the sun is constantly getting hotter and way before the sun turns into a red giant it'll effect us, in 1 billion years if humans are still around then which is very, very, very, very, very, very unlikely the sun will be too hot for like to exist.
