It's obvious - who else would have the resources and degree of control necessary to suppress all the evidence of the existence of those things? The utter lack of evidence is, therefore, proof of the conspiracy. It's simple logic.

Yes. My opinion is that anyone who is stupid enough to believe that the World is going to end just because the Mayan calender will be be coming to the end of a cycle needs to be locked away. Both for their own safety, and for that of the populace in general.

People will suffer for this mountain of lies and stupidity.

It's funny in isolation, in a "Bloody hell, how dumb does someone have to be to believe that?" kind of way, but if it gets mass coverage then many people will be uncertain and partially convinced by simple repetition. They will suffer stress as a result. There will probably be some heart attacks, some suicides.

It doesn't matter that it's all based on mashing together bits of two different and unconnected religions.

It doesn't matter that few in any of the people involved are followers of either religion.

It doesn't matter that it's an unsubstantiated interpretation of bits of those religions, an interpretation that is contrary to the interpretation made by followers today and, as far as we can tell, followers in the past.

It doesn't matter that it is contrary to all observed evidence and that many of the claims are simply impossible.

With enough repetition, you can get many people to ignore all those things. Look at how many people still think that the moon landings are, or at least might be, fakes.
