I've taken a 4 port gig nic out of a Dell 2950 and fitted it into a HP N40L, the only problem is it's lacking air flow which means it's currently quite hot. It has 2 small heatsinks on it and sat idle for the last 20 mins they're hot enough to sting my fingers after a few seconds which means they must be around what 50'c ?

I can remove the heatsinks easily as one is screwed on and the other is clipped but are these enterprise NICs designed to run at quite high temps or should I try and avoid it ?

Applied some AS5 and a new fan, done that to all 3 servers :)

Surprising how useful hoarding cr@p can be :D
