Found a dirt cheap flight and hotel deal to go to Nice for 2 days, next week.

I've never been to Nice or Monoco before, so any advice would be welcomed.

I figure, I'd go and stay in Nice for the first day and night, get up early on the second day, hire a car and drive to Monoco as I'd like to drive around the Grand Prix circuit - bit of a cleche thing to do, but hey, what can you do ;)

Any nice eateries in either place? Or any specific sights to see?

Cheers

Monaco pretty dull tbh unless you like staring at boats and things you'll never afford.

Go drive the GP layout, worth doing for the lolz and doesn't take long to get there, then drive back to Nice, keep going and go to Antibes and Juan Les Pins for the day. Michelangelo's in Antibes was always a favourite, get the Chocolate Mouse for dessert, it's comedy huge.

EDIT: Meant to say, you can stop of at Eze Village and on the way, quirky and quite a view up the top of the hill.

You could drive or walk around the track. If you park in lower Monaco and walk up to Monte-Carlo you can peruse the shiny things and have a nice drink in Casino Square at the Cafe. Then on your walk back down to your car there is a seafood restaurant called La Maree, which is very nice, but not for the faint wallet hearted.

Thanks for that. Sounds right up my alley. What sort of price range are we talking about?

when I went a few years ago with work I was probably paying at least EUR 25+ for a main meal each evening (breakfast/lunch was covered at the hotel/office)

good places I can remember were a seafood place very near the harbour in Antibes and a Moroccan place in Valbonne that did awesome Tagnines

Well, I had langoustines at 30 euros for 100g. I didn't happen to know how much a langoustine generally weighs so I thought I'd ask. Turns out about 120g each. So if you want a meal you'll typically have 5-6 of this size, which is about £140. Not cheap, but they were delicious.

As for those reviews, I went last year during Grand Prix weekend. Maybe they give a bit more leeway with customers at those times. We made no bones about not being "richer than thou" and were still treated well.

Could always head just a little to the north and have an explore of a few small hill villages if you're interested.

My trip (film photos) from a couple of years ago. We did go to Nice/area for 5 days though. Did Monaco and Nice on the first day then had 3 days to the north.

You can easily get to Monaco by bus, probably better than driving tbh as you don't have to worry about parking.

£140 for a meal!! I'd feel sick eating it. Considering my flights, Hotel with breakfast only came to £113.

Is there a McDonalds near by? ;)
