Okay so i have decided to go mad and totally deck my room out with some nice sounding speakers :). I am on a tight budget being only on a part time job whilst at College.

So.. i have decided to get these speakers..heard them at my mates and were great...http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-050-LG&tool=3

Now, i am here to ask, i want some good sounding headphones as a lot of the time they will be plugged in due to me gaming and it will be easier to listen to music on them a lot of the time. So if someone could find me some good headphones for no more than £25 that would be awesome.

Finally..i was wondering if sound cards give much better sound quality or add to anything? If so then can someone link me to the cheapest option. Im not someone who needs the mega bucks kit. but i really do appreciate loudness and bass :p. So if there are some headphones out there which are as good for what they cost as those ligitech speakers as well as any cheap and effective sound cards then let me know!

Thanks guys.

Hi there.

Could go for the £30ish Goldring headphones, probably the best quality you're gonna get new at the price, they're a bit above £25 but as they're low level dedicated hifi style headphones, so will be better build than most of the basic stuff from philips etc you'' find around. :)

Sound cards wise, they DO add quality, but how much depends on your speakers, and the sound card itself. At the moment the most highly rated are the Xonar series. Really a lot of it depends on what speakers/headphones you use, how sensitive your hearing is and what the quality is like of your current setup how much you will notice a difference.

HMM ok good suggestions i will look into that. I think i will lay off the sound card for now. As many people also have problems with them.

£25 headphones will sound better than £25 speakers... Also, so make decent bass you need to shift air, I suggest a horn of some sort... Shame they are £1000+ unless you DIY :(

The only major Xonar problems relate to he HDAV model and the problems only pertain to home cinema type stuff (no 1080/24 and not bitstreaming). For games, the D2X is an excellent card.
