Those statues quite the eyesore for being in such a mundane looking residential area, I imagine more than a few curtain twitchers were annoyed about them being installed, but now they've saved the neighbourhood.

Made of plastic as well according to the artist in that BBC article, pretty amazing it held up after 20 years.
