Nice little battery saving tip for K800i

Someone told me this the other day in work and it basically triples the battery life of the K800 from roughly 3 days to 9 days depending on usage.

Go into settings>connectivity>mobile networks>GSM/3G and then select GSM only.

I noticed a huge improvement in battery life, so if you don't use 3G it's well worth it!

This probably applies to other phones with 3G too.

Yep its a good tip that works a treat
 
except when you video call and forget that you've turned it off - I spent ages trying to work out why it wouldn't work :(

I'm getting rid of this phone asap as the sliding camera cover keeps sliping down and unlocking itself in my bag >: (

also, turn screen brightness down to 50%, you get used to it straight away tbh, did this on my w810 and now my w880

thanks for the gsm tip, i think i can safely say i won't be using 3g ever on this phone
 
I end up having to turn mine off. Orange's 3G is rubbish (or Sony's, but probably Orange's fault). On both my K800i and K810i, messages don't get delivered for ages, phone calls don't ring and I can't make calls.

This only happens for a few hours at a time, and it appears to be fairly random. Turn off 3G and all is fixed.

what does 3g do, i thought it was only for video calling or using the internet on mobile?
 
I do the '3g off' thing on all of my phones. As i never use the internet or video calling.
I did it strait away on my K800, so i wasnt able to tell if the battery life was better or not. :p.
 
Ive never used the 3G either, the thing does slide down a lot aswell :(
Anyone owned this phone for about 10 months? Mine has stopped focusing properly, and yes its in Auto still, just doesnt take the clear pics it used to.

Ive had my K800 for about that time, still works flawlessly. :).
