Leon, see that? Thats better than a silly Fiat or an Imp thing, that is.

You know it makes sense.
:D

Turbos aren't really my thing. That's why I went off the 200SX a couple of years ago, turbocharged cars just don't quite get my spine tingling (no matter how fast they are)

the tt 205 does not drive much like a normal turbo though (in stock form), a friendof mine has converted his 205xs to a tt and now has megasquirt ecu lots of headwork and a t28 + fmic, its now about 250bhp (was rr'd at 235bhp with stock ecu+ ignition).

in stock form they dont feel turbocharged the turbo spools instantly so there is no lag and they just pull :)
cracking cars

he now has a case of too much power strugles to get power down even with an lsd :/

Woah, that would be such a fun car!

After almost understeering off the road while trying to keep up with westy's 205, it's totally changed my view on the little french rot-boxes :D

no turbo spools instantly, I dont care what it is, a turbo car will always have poor throttle response compared with an NA.

*cough* anti lag *cough* Damn I love that noise.

/pedantic mode off ;)

Which turbocharged cars did you find to have particularly poor throttle response then?

Nissan Silvia Turbo and Escort RS Turbo are (I think) the only Turbocharged cars I've actually driven. Oh, and Freefallers MX-5, an Impreza and a Sierra Cosworth now I think about it. And a Charade GTti.

More than I thought :p

Still, every one had some lag before they burst into life, Freefallers MX was probably the "best" for lack of lag. Worst was the S12 Silvia, you had to blip the throttle like a 60's F1 car off the line or it would bog down.

As I suspected then.

Not all turbocharged cars have irritating throttle response - especially turbocharged versions of an engine which is also available in N/A form, the throttle response is pretty much the same as the N/A version.. you just get even more power at a certain point.

Citroens 1.9D and 1.9TD are a good example of that.

It was caused by running into a brick wall at about 5 mph.

Jeez if you get that much damage running into a wall at that speed, what happens when you have a more serious issue at 30mph+?

Diesel engines don't even have a throttle though do they? I thought diesels just controlled the fueling and the air coming in wasn't actually throttled at all.
[/pedant]
