Does it actually taste good, or are you trying to win some internet points? I'm all for making what society sees as inappropriate drinks, but only if they taste good. Special Brew is incredibly yeasty, would that work with the crisp but acidity of Strongbow? I'm not so sure...

There are plenty of high strength ciders which you could have used to make a more manly (stupid?) Snakebite though.

No.

Real Snakebite has a shot of blackcurrent juice in it as well :p

Err that'll be snakebite and blackcurrent. The clue is kind of in the name there.

True for at least one pub I've been to, they wouldn't give us our drinks (a cider, and a larger) as they thought we were going to mix them. Idiots.

Unless it differs for student bars then it isn't illegal.

I'd have guessed it was a matter of policy for the pub rather than a directly legislative issue, pubs have to be careful about not promoting irresponsible drinking and not serving those that are already drunk. I'd be surprised if that extends to being allowed to serve such mixed drinks in no circumstances at all but I don't know for certain so I could well be wrong.

I've been in a couple of places that have said no, some that have said they'd give us the ingredients but not mix them and others that have just got on and provided the drink as asked for. I realise this probably makes it sound as if I drink snakebite often but that's not true. :o

Snakebite is awesome, is it true they're not allowed to serve it in pubs or just a myth?

I know it's true of certain pubs - know a guy who was a barman in a pub where it was banned.

Supposedly it's because the mix encourages particularly violent behaviour...

Frankly I think that's bull, but you know xD

It's quite popular in the UEA student bar xD

Personally I'll take a Jack and Coke any time though over Snakebite :p

I acctually like the taste of the mix. The sweetness does counter act the syrups/yeasts in the brew. As a Carlsberg employee i get a crate of SB a month for free.

Thinking on, maybe they just said 'don't mix them' or something..It was about 4 years ago so details a a little sketchy, especially considering I was in a pub at the time.:D
