Anyone know of any nice restaurants in Colchester that arnt too expensive.

Thinking of going out for my birthday this weekend but want to avoid the Nando's/Chinese buffets/pizza places that we always go to and go somewhere different.

Nothing too out of the way as no one can drive as were only little :p

Thanks a lot,
Dan

I always quite liked sloppy joes, they have a huge menu and it's pretty cheap. They do texmex, as well as the the usual steaks / ribs etc.

Chef Canton is good as well all you can eat chinese, but it's not buffet it's all cooked fresh as you order it.

Indian wise, I like the Bengal Spice in Wivenhoe, there is supposed to be a good one slightly out of the center, but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called.

Ahhh Sloppy Joes, i dont even think of that as a nice restaurant anymore, thats basically taken over from McDonalds nowadays, love that place, but im after something a bit different. Definately reccomend it though if your after somewhere with good food for a decent price.

Chef Canton sounds very nice, where abouts is it?

Not a big fan of indian myself.

Just remembered Ask on North Hill, any one have any compliments/complaints, ive never been?

Crouch st, near the old odeon.

Ask is ok, didn't find it particulary stunning. Apparently ZiZi's is supposed to be better. Which is near the Head St / Crouch St junction. Opposite Chef Canton infact.

Can recommend Fai's noodle bar as well for Chinese / Japanese.
