Looking to take the missus out for a nice meal tomorrow.

Can anyone reccomend and extra nice resturants. Ideally where your not elbow to elbow with some tourist from Wigan.

What's the budget?

There's no point in telling you to visit the Black Door if you've got Co Co Mos money ;)

It is excellent. There is a good tapas resteraunt near to the Mal Maison as well.

Thats called La Tosca, its opposite pitcher and piano, never really rated it tbh. There are quite a few fancy'ish ones around the bottom of the Quayside around next to chase and opposite the akenside traders.

quick look around shows these
1. (1) Black Door - Newcastle City Centre
2. (3) Hanahana - Newcastle City Centre
3. (6) Fujiyama - Newcastle City Centre
4. (2) Blue Coyote - Newcastle City Centre
5. (7) Cafe 21 - Newcastle City Centre
6. (4) Azzuri - Newcastle City Centre
7. (5) Baltic, Rooftop Restaurant - Gateshead
8. (8) Simply Greek - Newcastle City Centre
9. (10) Paris Texas - Newcastle City Centre
Quayside Restaurants
• Heartbreak Soup, Newcastle
• Bascule The, Newcastle
• Malmaison Brasserie, Newcastle
• Sage, Gateshead
• McCoys At The Baltic, Newcastle
• Pitcher & Piano, Newcastle

cant vouch for anything other than pizzeria in town

At the Newcastle meet Pigmo, Matblack & I went to a lovely Italian. I can't remember what it was called though. It was on the Quayside and was upstairs. Nice food and cosy, intimate atmosphere. I wonder if any of the locals can identify it?

MB says he seems to remember it was opposite somewhere called 'The Camel & something'

The Quilt & Camel? or the quilted camel or summit? Thought that was a bar.

If you fancy a chinese then King Neptunes on stowell street is really nice.

It is, this place is opposite, its above and to the side of another restaraunt which is on a lower ground floor. Its a very nice pizza and pasta place with 2 floors and a spiral staircase.

So where did you end up going? How was it?

New restaurant called "Barn under a wandering star". Its just out of the city centre on jesmond road near the cradlewell pub. Its the Barn bistro but its moved from its old premises and is all new. Cant fault the food its excellent. Great atmos also.

Go there you will not be dissapointed.

Best curry in town is the Komal. One in fenham one in jesmond. The fenham one lets you take your own booze which is good :)
