Hi all,
I thought I'd just make a quick post to say I put Ubuntu on my server today and its been a pleasant surprise. I had expected to have a bit of a crack at it, fail miserably and then stick windows back on like I did with Mandrake a few years ago. But Ubuntu installed flawlessly, set itself up perfectly and just worked. I've never used linux before so it must be pretty good if I can do it. All I had to setup myself was downloading the restricted drivers to allow the visual effects and that was it.
What I would like to know how to do now is stream video files to my xbox 360 from ubuntu. Once I can do that I can forget dual booting and take my server 100% linux. I have installed all the correct codecs with "ffmpeg" and "fuppes" that supposedly has the ability to transcode on the fly and stream to a 360. I can access the fuppes web interface from other syswtems on my network, it has files shared and can see my xbox, but the xbox cant see it.
Anyone use the same software and have any suggestions? Or do you use any other software to achieve the same??
