When I buy apples, I like to buy some green and some red. Just bought Golden Delicious and Braeburn which are the only ones I ever buy, they taste very nice. Granny Smiths, nah, too sour. What apples do you like and recommend? I saw some other reds called Gala and Pink Lady, and there's also Cox. Are they as nice as Braeburns?

Pink lady's are by far my favourite, during my stint in a fruit and veg shop I lived on them free of charge, make sure you get good fresh ones though I suppose that goes without saying.

How do they differ would you say from Braeburns? Juicier, sweeter?

Right then, several votes above for Pink lady, Fuji and Gala, so I'll try them next time. :)

Anyone got anything to say about the Cox apples?

Another pink Lady fan here, a good balance of texture, taste, not too sweet, but above all nice and consistent. Braeburn can be great or really bad, granny smith have a nice solid texture and are sharp and tangy.

Anything that is mushy, sandy gritty I hate. Needs to be a solid apple, firm texture, plenty of juice.

Yes, I'm with you on that.

Granny Smith's are too sharp and sour for my palate.

When I bought the pink lady I also bought a golden delicious. Having experienced the pink lady, the golden delicious, (once my favourite), seemed a bit dull by comparison. So from now on, it's pink lady only.
