Hi guys,

I'm looking for a nice restaurant in the Newquay area, have looked into the fifteen (Jamie Oliver charity) one but just want to make sure there isn't any other famous restuarants in the area. Don't mind paying for it aslong as the quality is good.

Cheers, Tom.

Fifteen is really good, local food and the location is absolutely outstanding.

Rick Stein's in Padstow obviously.

I'm sure there are a bunch of others with a far more local touch but you also have an element of hit or miss - while at Fifteen you might not get the amazingly amazing food that you might stumble upon you can be pretty certain you'll get a damn tasty food with an excellent standard of service (at least that was my experience :) )

Ok thats good to know, been looking on Trip advisor at reviews all seem to be similar to your view.

How does Rick Steins compare to fifteen?

Just to update, went to fifteen the other night. Was very impressed! The view of sunset in the window seat was amazing and some of the foods were fantastic, topped off with the best peices of angus steak I've ever had.

15 is a spoty dog place to go. Great food and top views. Go for the matched wines with the food too. I personally feel it makes for a better meal.

Another good place is just around the bay at a place called The Scarlet. Is an eco-hotel, but dont let that put you off as isnt in your face, sandal wearing, beans and pulses type affair. Is a spa hotel and have stayed there with Mrs S a few times. You can just book in to the restaurant and has great views looking out to see across the bay at Mawganporth. Would recommend a nights stay in ther hotle and use the spa facilities and the good plu is that ther are no children in there at all :)

Never done the Rick Stein stufff, but there is uspposed to be a good place over the water from there in Rock.

Just remembered another place thats meant to be good - Paul Ainsworth's restaurant.

But I would again say - if you're going all that way and looking for good food, then the first place on your list before you even consider anything else should be nathan outlaw!
