Received a bottle of this very kindly as a present. However, I've never heard of it before. It is decent or not? I'm only asking because I got given some champagne called Deutz once and it made me feel ill all night.

It's alright, basically, but won't blow you away. Duetz shouldn't have made you feel ill, also. Hell, chance you had a duff bottle, but rare you'd get a bottle making you ill, unless you drink 3 bottles of it.

Nothing wrong with Lanson! As for the Deutz... me and my gf both woke up with terrible acid indugestion. Actually painful. Never again.
