Story

Kaita, the midfielder who was sent off against Greece, has received over 1000 threats on his life. Sure, vent your frustration but to actively threaten a man's life over a sport is incredibly out of order.

This is awful. I remember from 1994 there was a Columbia player who was murdered when he returned home after they were knocked out. Not sure if the killer was actually caught or the motive was confirmed, but he had just scored an own goal a few days before resulting in Columbia's knock out.

Yeah he was caught, supposed to have done 40 odd years but they let him out in 2005 due to good behaviour, only served 11 years.

It was rumoured that some pretty high up Columbian gangsters lost a lot of money over it. When the killer got him, he shouted "goal!" every time he fired a round. Shot him 12 times or something insane.

Actually i wouldnt be surprised if it did come from muslims in Nigeria...you have the islamists in Somalia threatening to kill anyone who watches the world cup...so nothing would surprise me

Nigerian midfielder Sani Kaita has had over 1,000 emails threatening him with his death after getting sent off in the World Cup match a few days ago.
He has replied to every one personally, sympathising with their pain and asking for bank details to enable him to repay them for his stupidity.
