Sorry to rant, but I am extrememly frustrated. I'm currently in the process of selling my girlfriends Canon EOS 400D (An expensive SLR camera) and in the process of a week my item has been bought 3 times by Nigerian Scammers. I kept on telling myself that next time I would be ok, so I relisted the item and then the same thing occured again.

I suppose the ideal situation would not to use ebay to sell it, but then where else would I sell such an item? As said before, sorry to rant but I am just really annoyed.

Did you have it on Buy It Now? This happened to me when I sold my phone, the next time I listed it, I just specified UK only buyers and let the bid run.

If it's a camera - then try the MM? There's an entire forum section devoted to photography so an SLR might be wanted by a member here?

He's only got 65 posts so far, so that option is out heh :(.

I hate E-bay for selling stuff, hence why I just keep most of my old stuff lol.

As said above - just make it so that only people in the UK can bid on the item.
If you are setting a BIN then make sure that you set it for instant payment required.

Your item should easily sell so long as you don't try to be too greedy.
A 400D with Kit Lens can be purchased for around £380 brand new - so take that into account.

when i sell those types of items on ebay, i always put a massive warning to the scammers right at the top of the auction, telling them not to bother and explaining that i know how all their scams work.
it seems to work cos i've not had any scammers bid on my auctions since then.

Try putting it the for sale part of POTN or talkphotography forums, sales usually turn over pretty fast on there if the item is priced sensibly and with a good description of the condition (with photos).

The 400D isn't really an expensive DSLR either, it's very much a cheap one but that's neither here nor there and I'm being pedantic :p:)

Allowing only people from the UK to bid on you items doesn't always work. I specified that before I sold my D50 a couple of years ago and a Nigerian scammer still managed to win it. I just reported him to eBay and send a second chance offer to the next highest bidder which went off without a hitch
