Hello,

Out of curiosity, if you were going to a club for a night out, what songs would you currently expect to/want to here while out?

I'm thinking down the lines of indie/rock/light dance music here....

At the moment I'd have to go for Ruby by the Kaiser chiefs, a new one which gets everyone singing. As for a golden oldie, a night is also never completle without singing out loud to wonderwall or live forever, by oasis!

the softest rock i get to listen too when we go out might be guns and roses...its more of a heavy metal club we go to though ;)

arctic monkeys might fit the bill though or like you said some of the rocky stuff in the charts now

thats a very broad question

it depends on what sort of club you're going to, a commercial club, i'd expect to hear commercial stuff mixed by a dj who knows what the crowd wants and can press play, a specialist club (trance, dnb, etc etc) you would expect people to be there for the music more than anything and be played by people at the peak of their profession. unless you're very in touch with the specific genre then you'll probably feel a bit left out :(

commercial clubs are more full of drunks and have more fights than specialist clubs imo :p (you can work out why)

i seriously suggest going to a proper club that plays JUST the music you enjoy, TRUST me, its so, so much better than a commercial club night

12 hours of just your favourite tunes or 5-6 hours with a few tunes you like? ;)

When i go out it goes around all the emo bands...fall out boy etc etc some of the gossip, foo fighters.....then you get the odd bit of rap....50 cent - disco inferno/candyshop/just a lil bit.

Tis a club with the heavy lineup downstairs and more mainstream upstairs though.

what do i want to hear ? filthy dirty electronic noise

only hear that when the clubs in our small town get decent DJs in (quite often get people in who id normally go afar to see)

or if a mate is DJ ing the indie night i get a cheeky dance floor clearing request played :p

usually stick to the indie nights anyway as i still like indie music and its the best Saturday night in our town

sucks having to go to london to hear the types of music i like most though :(

If i could go into any club now and say what i would want on.

It would be either be a long 4 Hour Andy C and just purely that with him rinsing some of the older classics off RAM like which he is doing at "Herbal"? i think next month.
Or to hear Alix Perez & Sabre play out a liquid set and be gone with the fairyes so to speak :D

But if i went in any random club like in my town, id EXPECT to hear some trance classic stuff (but alas never happens) and i normally end up hearing Usher or Kaiser Chiefs being played a gazzilion times.
Normally when it gets a bit later though, the DJ's switch to some Prodigy and Pend and then to a bit more Harder stuff which isn't too bad.
Never plays me any DnB though when i ask :(

God my area sucks for a night out... Only one bigish club where everyone ends up at the end of the night :(

The Next RAM night at the end, Andy is playing for 4 hours. High Contrast is playing house, and Marcus Intellex and i thiiiink Calibre are playing b2b.

If I had to choose a few songs to hear when at a club, it would probably include the following (trying to have a mix of genres/vibes):

Paul van Dyk - For an Angel
Bryan Adams - Summer of '69
Jamelia - Superstar
Frank Sinatra - New York, New York
Punjabi MC - <whatever that popular one was from a couple of years back>
The Killers - Somebody Told Me

The above is not a list of my favourite artists, or even my favourite tracks by said artists, but more a list of tunes which seem to work well in clubs and have enough mainstream appeal to get people up and not just dancing but also punching the air and smiling :)

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I would expect to hear utter garbage such as pop music of the day and light dance music. I would rather hear kittens getting mutilated over a roasting fire :)

The sad truth :(

I'd much rather just go to the pub, or see a live act tbh

The very few times I do go out on a "big night" I hate the music and can't stand dancing :o ... cue the excessive drinking and then dancing only when Im good and drunk

I prefer the metal/alternative nights myself, but I do love a good big mixed=music place, with completely different stuff playing in seperate rooms/floors. It makes for a more interesting mix.

Sadly, round here these days, it's indie, indie, indie. All the clubs I really enjoyed have gone, or "softened" their playlists.

EDIT: I've just realised I can't remember the last time I heard ska-punk on a night out. Sad days.
