Went for a play tonight in Coventry town centre taking some photos of Phil again.

It went alright, but with my current wireless flash gear it's hard to judge the exposure of the shots, hence why a couple of these are a little blown out in places.

Anyway, C&C welcome and lets try to actually get some comments this time, as my last thread got over 250 views and about 5 posts from people other than myself.

i know how you feel mate :(

I must admit i prefer your last lot, but i really like the shadows and comp of the first one. The second one is good with the b+w, but the big thing blocking the left of the shot is kind of distracting for me. The last two im not that keen on im afriad.

Im not sure any of them really work tbh. The compositions don't do much for me, and the blown highlights are distracting.

Sorry to be so negative. :(

I think the composition on the last 2 are very good, make it seem very urban. Number 2 for me is distracting with the background particularly the bus.

But yeah, number 3 and 4, very good :) You've made Coventry, the City of Grey and boredom appear sort of intrigueing!

No that's fine, I appreciate the comments - could you elaborate on the composition side of things...it's only because others have said they like the compositions and you dissagree.

Coventry is indeed grey and boring but the transport museum is pretty cool, they've got all blue lights on the floor outside and a massive arch.

I wasn't overly happy with these shots, they were the best of a mediocre bunch to be honest.

I am going out again today to get some more up at the park, so expect an update later.

Keep the comments coming please :)

MrSix, re the compositions its difficult to put my finger on what I dont like. I think its just that none of the shuts really reach out and grab me. I dont say "wow thats really nice" when I look at it.

Sorry I cant be more constructive!

Agreed. Night time is very hard to work with imho and I hardly ever do night time shoots. The lighting doesn't really work that well. Your day shots were much better.

Aye, unfortunately with the nature of the activity, you've gotta take the rough with the smooth, which does sometimes mean braving the Saturday night beer heads in the cold :p

I'll keep working on it, just need to find a happy medium with this wireless gear i've got - it doesn't allow for F.E.C and the flash occaisionally "goes to sleep" if you're not shooting a lot, so it's an uphill struggle with the one thing that your photos rely on!

Thanks for the comments.

out of the bunch, i really do like 3. i think it's the size of the thing he's riding on. also i think that the lighting works best in that shot.

I like number 2. Though it is too bright i think this adds to the feeling of the picture. Gives it a much more 'streets' feeling to it which i like for the subject.

'streets' - maby not the right word but i cant think of the right one.
