I'm after a suitable theme for XP that allows me to use my laptop whilst maintaining night vision, so ideally red on black backgrounds.

This is to run navigation software (Autoroute/Memory Map etc) as well as astronomy star charts (Starry Night).

I've tried altering the Classic Windows colours to suit, but was wondering if there was a specific theme that anyone knows of.

Thanks in advance!

No, he means a theme that won't ruin his night vision, i.e vision at night; adjustment of the eyes to darkness. (took me a few re-reads too)

Adjusting windows classic may be your best bet, unless you find a "black" theme and edit the properties of that.

One thing to consider is the amount of light that the screen's still going to kick out - and remember that when it first boots you'll still have the loading bar etc. Also the power light etc might need taping over to stop them effecting your vision.

Thanks for all the responses :)

No, its not for using with night vision goggles! I want to use the laptop outside in the dark running Planisphere software whilst observing the sky with a telescope - hence the need to maintain my eye's night vision.

Also, I run navigation apps whilst driving occasionally so again, when dark, a night vision friendly theme would be nice!

I'll give the High Contrast setting a go and the wife has today found a red acetate folder that I can hack up to make a screen filter.

I'll report back how it all works!

Thanks again all.
