Hey peeps don't think there is a thread for this

A nightclub company which owns 75 venues, including one where a student died in a crush, has gone into administration.

Luminar Group Holdings PLC, which claims to be the UK's largest club owner, said it was unable to meet some of its bank repayment obligations.

Shares in the group, which employs 3,000 staff, have been suspended.

Nabila Nanfuka, 22, from London, died in hospital after the crush at Lava Ignite in Northampton on 19 October.

Luminar's payments to Lloyds, Barclays and Royal Bank of Scotland are due on 27 October.

The company recorded losses of £198m in the year to the end of February as sales dropped by 19% to £137m.

Tbh i'm not surprised with this, prices of drinks are so expensive that the general public would rather drink at home with friends than spend stupid amounts on drinks.

it does makes sense why prices are so high, to try and make a profit back, but it has backfired as people just wont pay the prices they are looking for.

we pay £5 quid on the door.
a vodka and redbull is about £6-£8
a alchopop is about £4

normally i get a shot and a drink it works about £6, so if i took £20 out i would be skint by midnight, they should have kept the BOGOF deals buy one drink and get one free to get punters in, but they scrapped that due to government complaining about binge drinking, then they upped the prices of bears and spirits which pushes the punters away.

by one get one half price would work, or just lower the prices by £1 would make a huge difference imo.

yeah that would work, i remember being 18 and taking a tenner out and still having change. it was £1.50 a drink and you get one free. that was when reef and metz were available.

What sort of prices do these places charge? The local clubs I go to only charge £3-£5 on the door and drinks are £1.50 a pint usually.

£5 quid on the door
Alchopops £4.50
Shots £2.75
Beer £3.50
Spirits £4 -5
I think the problem was the deals they had are for the wrong days, they would have thursdays and fridays as the best deals then wack up the prices on a saturday, not everyone wants to go out on a friday and you would end up spending £50 just a have a good night, i could get a chinese and dvd for that with change left over for a bottle of wine. gone are the days of cheap nights out. What ever corporation if any will buy them out really need to re-look into prices and whether what they are offering is making profit.

they used to offer free entry to people who got there before 10.30 and have cheap drinks before 11, this was scrapped. 193 Million Pound of losses is not a small amount by any margin, i feel sorry for the 3,000 people who will be unemployed which raises the unemployment rate.
