Ok.. need some help here.

Im running a core duo 2 extreme @ 1.5v @ 3.7Ghz.. water cooled with an aquacomputer Evo 160 rad, cuplex XT 775 block, and 600lph pump... water temps are fine.. im only (at this time) cooling the CPU.. but the temps being reported by Asus PC Probe are pretty high.. like 68-70 degrees on full load, and 45 idle... i've been overclocking for ages, and im not a n00b as far as installing heatsinks water blocks etc... im using a tiny amount of arctic silver in the centre of the CPU die, i've already taken it all off.. cleaned it up and put it back on... again with a tiny amount in the middle of the chip.. still high temps, so I tried cleaning up again and putting a very thin layer of AS across the entire CPU... again still really high temps.
I've read that Asus PC Probe reports temps a lot higher than they're supposed to be? is this true or is there something definitley wrong with my cooling??
Any help or comments would be much appreciated..

Also, the weird thing about PC Probe, is how as SOON as I click "torture test" in prime95... the very milisecond I press it, it goes straight up to like 65 degrees then back down to 50.. then up to like 68.. its really strange lol..

Its not strange - i dont think intel have heard of machining to good tolerances. You have a concave cpu lid. You need to lap it with some wet and dry

I see,

I just clocked my CPU back to standard settings and to standard voltage and its idling at 33 and 45 at full load.. so I don't think my setup is the problem.. might have to lap it..

There are some very good guides around with regards to lapping a conroe. I don't have any links on me atm but a quick google will find you some.

Remember to use CoreTemp to get the accurate temperatures of your conroe cpu.
