Hi all, I'm looking for some advice regarding Nike air max trainers.

I bought a pair a couple of months ago from JJB sports. I have recently noticed a noise when I'm walking, sounding like air escaping. I have just discovered there is a large split on the sole of one shoe, with the other one also having a small split on the sole.

Do you reckon I have much comeback if I take these back into the store, and ask for a refund?

Cheers

Steven

You could try but I wouldn't hold out much hope. I've had lots of viewable airsole Nike trainers and only after lots of use over an extended period have I had such problems. You been doing anything daft in them?

Its always worth a try..

I used to work in retail and you wouldnt believe some of the things that used to come back and what state they were in!

If you dont want the confrontation of going into the store, you could always try giving them a call and explain the situation, then you'll know where you stand.

I would guess if you are confident and persist enough you should see a result. I also wouldn't be surprised if they try to say they have had too much wear and tear and you've caused the damage, so be ready with a good response!

Which pair of airmax trainers are they?

My 95's as of 2-3 years of age have only started squeeking and even that was after lots of abused such as boxing, jogging, playing football and all other types of activities.

Just bought a new pair of 95's and Tailwinds 5+ :D

if they are still in good condition bar the hissing, i would definately take them back and question whether they were fit for purpose/defective etc...

deffo worth a try.

if on the other hand, they have half the sole missing, laces half knawed off, and generally mud brown in colour - id give it amiss.

I have only really walked and driven in them.

They are pretty much in perfect condition bar the split sole, I obviously am going to give them a wipe before bringing them into the shop.

Although I bought them at the end of July, I have not really used them much since then.

i have some nike air classics from 2002/3 which i have worn heavily through snow, ice and summer, and they are only now needing replacement.

trainers usually last me 12 months max. they have been the best pair of trainsers i ever bought, and only colst me £39 in canada!

I bought a pair of CAT trainers about 3yrs ago, I'm still wearing them a lot. I am very light on my feet, and don't wear down soles etc quickly. Thats why I'm a bit annoyed about these new Nike ones splitting!

i worked at sport soccer for nealy 3 years when i was in college and we all know how impossible it is to take stuff back there. But if you presented that in my store you would get something done. Did you pay on card at all or cash? you need any kind of proof. also do not back down, because they will try fob you off be persistant and if your not getting anywhere ask them to get the area manager on the phone...he/she will not want to be involved in petty store going ons that should be handled by the managers so you will get something done :)

give them to a girl to take back, i know a girl that take shoes back like 6 months later and get full refund! (only upon straps breaking etc)

I haven't bought a pair of Air Max in about 5 yeasrs. However the Air bubbe did split on me once and I boxed them up, enclosed a letter along with my receipt to Nike UK, bascally saying I was a loyal customer and expected better. A brand new pair were sent to me about two weeks later.

That's what happens when you buy such overpriced crap. Get some decent shoes next time.

People might not appreciate being told what to do :p (regarding your silly reaction in my warcraft thread too.)

You need to think before you type.

In that case I'd certainly give it a go.
