Looks excellent as a budget 24+35mm f/1.4 alternative:

Seems to Carry on Nikon's streak of amazing f/1.8 AF-S glass,a long with the 50mm and 85mm that are really not loosing anything to the f/1.4 version. TBH, I just don't see myself buying the f/1.4 version for my line of work, except I would really the 24mm as it is my favorite FF focal length.

28mm also works very well on a DX camera, 42mm equivalent is pretty much the idealized "normal" lens. Certainly makes the duo 28mm + 50mm an attractive proposition on DX.

Hopefully Nikon continues to make these budget primes. Something wider would be really sweet, 16mm f/2.8 (especially useful for DX, but on DX would be helpful if f/2.0), and a 20mm f/2.0 or f/2.8 if blisteringly sharp.
