I am looking to get a new telephoto zoom lense and i was looking at the Nikon AF 70-300mm lense, however the above lense is replacing it. When the lense comes out will it go down in price because nikon rrp £399 and tbh i do not want to pay that? If it does not come down i shall have to look at the af lense. As i have the D50 with standard lense would it be better to get 55-200mm or have a little gap and get 70-300mm?

Thank you

Hi there

The rrp is just that, a recommended price. This is the price you will probably find it at high street stores. If you shop online you should be able to make a decent saving over that price.

if you can afford it I woud definitely try to get the new version. I would be aware however that it may be difficult to get hold of in the first few months after release.

The 70-300 AF is, afaik, quite a bit better than the 55-200, which is a real 'budget' option.

Hope this helps

I ordered the lens the day it was announced. Should be here start October. I would place and order asap if you want one within a reasonably good timeframe. Will most certainly be a good lens.

King.

I shall be searching all over the internet to find the best price.

I really want the new one over old one but cant justify paying full price, do you think it will drop within the first month at all?
