Are the US models any different to those in the UK?

My dad is looking at a deal through an american ebay store (140,000+ feedback).

you get the d200 plus a couple of lenses, battery, memory cards etc etc....all for £1250ish plus delivery.

They're the same apart from the charger will have an American plug on.

Watch out for import duties. Assume you will get hit with them and they usually work out at around 25% of the value.

I've tried to explain that to him, but when he tells me the body only is £1150 from the UK, it does look a very good deal.

He's got a d100 at the moment, but has a problem with it at the moment. This has highlighted the need for a backup DSLR.

How would he stand on warranty? The company say it comes with a full USA warranty, but my dad seems to think Nikon offer a worldwide warranty of 3 years?

How good that deal is depends on what lenses are bundled with it... What are they?

* Tamron 70-300mm Macro Lens with 6 Year USA Warranty

Sounds almost too good to be true. I'd be suspicious even with all that feedback ...

So the lenses are ok but nothing special, the CF card is worth next to nothing as they are dirt cheap, memory card storage wallet is free with most Cf cards, a CF reader is about £10 and the cam comes with battery as standard.....not so appealing after all!!

I've bought better for less, legitimatly in the UK 3 days after the launch (D200, 18-70DX lens and 2GB ultra III CF card) all for well under that US price and it has UK warranty, a uk supplier and VAT/Duty paid as its UK stock.....
