Nikon D3100 button markings fading :(

Hi there, ive recently switched to a Nikon D3100 from my trusty D40. Its actually off my son so i know its been looked after. It was only bought last year but the 12 months warranty is now up. The camera is great but its very disapointing that the markings are fading off the buttons on the back down the left hand side. Does any one know what can be done? The buttons on my old D40 are still marked properley as if it was new and is three years old.

I would contact Nikon.

Although the Camera is only just out of warranty, I would expect markings on buttons to last longer than that (unless you've been taking a brillo pad to them ).

Contact Nikon and see what they say. Explain to them that clearly the printing is defective and shouldn't have come off like it has and see how you get on.

Check the warranty again as 12 months ago nikon was doing an extra free years warranty if you registered the cameras with them.
