Nikon D60 CHR error ?

My boss at work has a Nikon D60 and it has the message "CHR" in the bottom left of the LCD at the top of the camera, and it also says "card error" when trying to view the photos, so does anyone know:-

1 - What CHR means?
2 - How to format the card?

CHR is a memory card error.

Not sure on the d60, but on my D50, just hit menu and scroll through and there is a format option on there. its not hidden.

In My D200 manual it says that the error message means the Card Cannot be Used. Sounds pretty tragic and I had to format the card before I used it again. Second time round I just took the card out, put it back in the camera and kept shooting. It was just the one frame that was wrecked. I've since recovered all the other images off the card and had no other issues.
