Nikon is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats this all about, you that bored Ray ;)

I so wanted to be a better photographer and all this extra dynamic range, better AF and lower AA filter with sharper images i just got to have, but what really sold it to me is the superior weather sealing.

As I need a new doorstop for the back door that can withstand the neighbour's cat, it keeps peeing on the old 2x4 block of wood and it's a bit smelly now.

Sony have an A99 coming soon which will be full frame; current rumours point to it doing full 102 cross point AF and having an ISO hotshoe rather than the Minolta one presently used. The viewfinder is a compromise of the SLT tech. Unless they switch back to SLR (unlikely, imo), they will have to stick with EVF.

Cheap but good primes? Minolta 50mm 1.7 is better than a lot of other cheap primes, the Sony 35mm can be picked up second hand for £100 and is not half bad.

Sony have their flaws, but they arn't that bad!

If go by the thinking of some people here that Canon is at the bottom of a cesspool, Sony is probably above it :p

Honestly i think your a little paranoid Ray.
Havn't seen anyone say that Canon are terrible, the facts are (imo) however that currently they are behind Nikon's offerings. That doesn't make them bad in the same way the D2H wasn't a bad camera at the time either.

I've never disputed the D800 being the better offering, however some people can't tell the difference between better and bad. Just because one is better in certain areas it does not make the competition terrible. Reading his post in the past week it gives you the impression that Canon bodies can't focus, photos are all blur, would self short circuit from moisture in the air and explode in your face.

Me, I like a challenge :p a MF lens just landed on my desk!

All this comparing of (pointless) specs and camera war makes me laugh.... Think more people should go buy a few rolls of 35mm film and a 30 year manual SLR and learn how to take pictures with out all this technology ;)

I'm game!

Well, can I not just use my 13 years old Eos 30? :p

Have some out of date slide film in the freezer too!
