Just been taken over by Tiscali a couple of months ago, and now my 2mb connection is at 400k 90% of the time.

It does now and then go back to 2mb, but very rarely.

We've been with them for about 10 years no problems, we've paid a high premium for that reason (£18pm) and now find ourselves at loggerheads with them over the speed of the connection.

They expect us to do all their bloody work, it was never like this before, they simply cannot be bothered to do any graft for their money.

So now were looking out for a new provider, any stay clear and go get it out there?

If your exchange is BE enabled, most would suggest them i'm sure. If not, an entanet reseller ( such as adsl24 ) would be a great alternative.

Bethere?

Yeah i went on their site and my put my landline number and postcode in and they said i could get 8-16mb connection IIRC.

Are they the ones people are going with these days?

No problems with Nildram here for us.... We connect at 3.5Mbps and get fast speeds :) We also have BE enabled on our exchange but are capped at 3-4Mbps due to distance they reckon :(

Be are excellent, good support, no capping, they have a fair usage policy but only if you go over something like 300gb a month but from what I hear they are pretty leniant about it.

Agree with you fully.
I've been a Nildram customer now for around 4 years and they are still perfect.
I've been through the time whenevery one jumped onto Nildram due to other ISP's suddenly enforcing their FUP.
I've been through the ownership change to Pipex and now I find that Tiscali own them.
However I still sync at 8Mbps and I still see 800kbps/sec download rates at off-peak times and 600kbps during those peak times.

I'm sure a lot of people think Tiscali and just assume service will be poor.

I left Nildram cos they were crap (for me), sometimes connection would be down for 12 hours or so... I am now with fast.co.uk who are good but a bit pricey. It's sad though how good isp's like Eclipse and Nildram got bought out by the big boys and the inevitable happened..
