Last night at the Xbox event there was an announcement of the revival of one of my favourite series Ninja Gaiden with the release of Ninja Gaiden 4 later this year. It looks fantastic and has a great look. Then they dropped that they have also done Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and its available now!!! I was a bit miffed as it looked like it was only on Xbox/Gamepass but later in the night it was also released on Steam.

I cant wait to get my hands on these games as i loved them (Even though it was extremely tough) but ninjas and demons.. What more could you want? :D

This takes me back to the original Xbox days, putting way too many hours in as I am terrible at these types of games but I love them.
Thanks for the heads up, I just set NG2 Black downloading :)
 
The original was incredibly hard until they added the Ninja Dog modes.. Then after playing with that for a while and getting my money worth i started to get much better on the normal mode.. Until they bought out no 2 then it was bloody tough again.. :D
 
I remember back when II was first released on the 360, and reached THAT staircase.... Whhooo-boooy! Lag city. So tempted to pick up II Black. Just to see that section in all its glory. But not sure if wait on a future sale or go in now... Hmmm...

Anyone know if you can start on Master Ninja difficulty straight away? Or is it like before and we need to run through it multiple times before that gets unlocked?
 
Booo! I just saw that they didn't use the original II staircase fight and are using the one from II Sigma where there's only ever 5-6 enemies at a time and new ones spawn in once any of the 5-6 is eliminated.

Guess will wait on a sale then. But so cool seeing everything again refreshed into UE5. :)

iirc you can select 4 options when you start - easy ( hero mode ) through to master .
 
I remember getting Ninja Gaiden black for my original Xbox. For some reason it would always crash about 10 minutes into the game at the exact same place and nothing I tried would fix it.

So, I took it back to the shop and before I even said anything the guy glanced at the game in my hand, and in the most condescending tone ever (and with a disgusting smarmy grin) said "too hard?". I tried to explain the problem but he just kept saying stuff like "you can admit it mate if it was too hard".
Anyway I got my money back and have wished death upon him ever since.
 
Loved the first one, played through it so many times. Seemed like such a leap forward in gaming at the time, I never got way with 2 as much though, don’t think I finished it.
Bought NG black for my PS Vita not long ago, at great expense, stuck on the same point that had me stuck on the original. The horsemen in the village you need to take out with the bow, it’s super fiddly on the vita and I just dont have the patience these days.
Will give NG2 black a go on the Xbox.

I remember actually trying to snap the original xbox ninja gaiden disc in half I got so frustrated with it lol... The only time I've ever got actually angry about a game. Luckily, it didn't snap easily and I finished the game a couple of weeks later. The satisfaction was unreal. I learned a lot from that game, about gaming, myself and life in general.
 
Well still enjoying.. Apart from one thing.. The camera angles are a pain in the ass at times.. One particular stage was the clock tower stage, it was a nightmare at times to line up some of the jumps. Took me about 40mins to do that stage alone because i kept falling down to the bottom.. :(

I have also found that if you use the camera assist it feels really weird..

Done the first couple of levels this weekend, great fun. Upgraded the lunar staff and it’s such a cool game, love some of Ryu’s animations particularly when he shakes the blood off the staff. Having a couple of camera issues especially when rounding a corner and being unsurprisingly surprise attacked but it’s pretty minor. I switched the block and the camera centre from the Xbox bumpers to the triggers and found it to be better. Playing on path of the acolyte and have only died once to the end boss on chapter 1. I did play the original NG2 on the 360 and remember it being so much harder than this. I never completed it though, hopefully I can stick this one through.

Me too, I don't have the reactions any more. It's fun in a violent limb and head chopping way :)

Off topic a bit, but are there any less frantic Ninja games? Like a Hitman type game, but as a ninja assassin?

Haha, I am well and truly past it now.
 
Still going with this. Slowly! Decided to restart after chapter 2 and farm some essence in ch 1 on a quartet of respawning black ninjas. Got 50k in 30 minutes, now rocking fully upgraded staff, talons and vigoorian flails in chapter 4. Chopping so many heads off.
