I am thinking of getting Ninja Gaiden 2 for ps3.. but firstly I am a bit confused by Sigma/non-sigma.. as far as I can tell, only the "Sigma" games are on PS3?

Are there any striking differences? Will the "Sigma" version not feel like Ninja Gaiden?

Will I be ripping my hair out at the OMGHOW****INGDIFFICULTISTHIS?!?! difficulty, like I should be with a Ninja Gaiden game?

There's quite a bit added to sigma. New weapons, New character, New enemies including bosses, New Cutscenes and music, Then updated graphics on top of all that! The difficulty is still rock solid, as it should be

Just noticed you're talking about 2, Serves me right for skimming the OP doesnt it.

Not sure about the differences in that. Possibly similar though

2 was easier then 1 imo - and the easier difficulties make it less annoying - shouldnt have any issues - and not a series you should skip!
 
There are a slight few differences in Sigma 2 pretty much similar to the above like with the first Sigma (Though not as huge) compared to the respective original Xbox/Xbox 360 versions, but nothing too huge to set them apart.

You might always hear people complaining about the lack of blood in Sigma 2 compared to the original 360 game as it has been replaced with a purple magical aura, but personally for me that didn't ditract from the experience.

The games are still difficult either way, but a fun challenge nevertheless. Sigma 2 also has the exclusive co-op mission mode (Offline or Online) which is a fun extra to test your skills.
 
The frame-rate issues on the 360 version was a problem for me on the harder settings mainly due to the pace, I haven't got round to Sigma 2 yet but have heard they are improved as well as there being added characters and missions.
 
^^ Oh yes the added characters. Can't believe I forgotten about that.

First Sigma you got to play as Rachel, but in Sigma 2, not only is she back, but you also have Ayane and Momiji (From Dragon Sword on the DS).

Don't forget the b00bie waggle physics with the Sixaxis/DS3 support too. :D

The framerate is rock solid in Sigma 2, even on the stairs which were awful in the original title.
 
There are still a couple of noticable V-Sync issues, but that is to be expected. But yeah the frame-rate is solid, and also Sigma 2 is 720p as opposed to the original's 585p, so quite a few differences regarding the graphics and image quality.

You serious? :D I think its the hardest game of its type out there, and i've played loads of games similar too lol. It's not the boss battles that are hard, its getting to them!! Master Ninja mode is an absolute nightmare!!! And I've not finished the game on it yet, as It was either a case of stopping playing, or picking up the console pieces from outside my window.
 
Ninja Gaiden on Normal difficulty is an absolute doddle IMO, but as you go up the difficulties it does get very hard in places. It's always beatable though, if you're willing to put the time and effort into it.
 
Always said it was the best xbox game lasy gen, better than halo. First time you play it is an experince in it self. The cutscenes graphics were superb. Block and role are the keys to the game plus using ultimate techniques to gather lots of yellow orbs
 
Got my copy last week. On chapter 14 already (just less thaqn 5 hours game time.)

Loving it. :) Fav weapon at the moment is the Vigoorian Flail, had a 157hit combo last night :o though I switch to Eclipse Scythe for bosses.
 
I felt that way about the flail tbh. The extended range and 360 coverage :p I didn't agree much with the tonfa. Probably just because I'm crap :p
 
The thing about the tonfa is that it has an insane limb removal rate and all enemies in the game die after having two limbs removed. Any single focus attack will kill at least 1 enemy, if there's a crowd you'll find you often clear an entire room with a single focus attack.
 
I'm still getting the gist of focus attacks vs spamming the hit buttons. Trying to learn the combos (and when they are appropriate). :)
 
SO gay. I just defeated the dragon like arch fiend (after blood drop) and my connection drops, dropping me to title screen :mad: meaning I have to take on drag dài, the arch fiend And the dragon fiend again :(

I always say its worth playing through ng2 and ngs2 , the differences in the games are far more then a few missions/weapons....NGS2 lack of enemies/easier bosses is pretty apparant for one and I think it does make the 2 versions very different to play through. Niether are bad but both are different enough to warrant independant playthroughs.

and to add to that: Ninja Gaiden is signifiantly harder then either of 2.

Ninja Gaiden never felt cheap even in its tough times, the whole of the middle of 2 (rocket launching from half way across the map) is mega cheap.
