Hi,

Soon going to jump on board the Conroe bandwagon but am having problems with removing my Scythe Ninja from my current mobo.

I was using it on an AMD motherboard with the metal back plate that was supplied with the HSF. I now want to remove this from my current motherboard to return it to standard. Problem is the double sided tape is sooo strong I cant easily remove it.

Has anyone else had the same problem? How did you overcome it? I'm thinking warm up the glue with a hair drier and hopefully it will be easier.

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers,

ICE

I had that problem with the Big Typhoon. The hairdryer helped me a little but I ended up getting a sharp knife and gently cutting it all slightly above the glue.

So basically I learnt never to use the sticky stuff on backplates anymore!

Great.

The mobo is dead and I'm returning it to the supplier (not OCUK).

Will having installed a aftermarket cooler void my warranty? The cooler was genuinely installed to reduce noise, not to aid overclocking. Whether they see it that way is another thing entirely.

Cheers,

I dont see why installing an aftermarket cooler would void warranty. In all my years I have never seen any mention of "using this product will void your warranty" or of people mentioning it on forum posts. Im sure you will fine :)

Never Use Knifes or blade's Try a loop of fishing line or Nylon tread, maybe a little soapy water also !

Next time leave the Backing plastic on, ;)

No, you can only void the warranty on CPUs by installing a HSF other than the default one, not motherboards - unless of course you had to somehow modify the CPU socket on the mobo so the HSF would fit.
