For getting the best quality picture is the official Nintendo Wii component cable the only one that will work. I guess you can get much higher quality ones as I have seen some for around £60 but i'm not sure if it would be worth getting one of these or if they would even work at all.

I have a 3rd party one made by one of the high-street retailers which cost £20 (about the same price as the official one). I would definitely wait and see some comparative reviews before shelling out on a £60 one though.

At first I thought component on the Wii was a disappointment (on my 26" LCD TV), however after going back to Composite on it, you can see how much better it is. For me it's also one less thing to ship to and from my parents place, since I keep the composite cable round there (their TV barely has RGB Scart, let alone Component).

Do you know what make the £60 one is, and it's not someone selling the Official one at a huge markup?

I wouldnt bother shelling out £60 for a component cable.

As mentioned their are 2 or 3 third party cables out at the moment for roughly £20, im using a shop own brand at the moment and have also used a Madcatz to compare.

If anything wait for the official one

The cable I am talking about is not a proper Wii cable, it is meant for high quality TV sets and the make is Belkin. I just wanted to know if it would work or if it needs to be Wii certified and if it is worth spending more on a higher quality cable.

It won't work, the wii has it's own unique connector that plugs into the console - it's been a few years since consoles offered proper outputs where you could use off the shelf cables with them. I think early PS1's were the last to do that.

Not sure what make the one I got is. Picked it up from an auction for £20 and was delivered within little over 24 hours.
Quality seems pretty decent to my eyes, no different than my Xbox on an offical component cable. Very happy I must say and beats the pants off composite.

There's no need to spend £60 on something which can be bought right now for £20 IMO
