Nintendo DS, are the games region coded?

probably a daft question but my girlfriends ds was bought in the states, will games bought here work?

Actually, all DSes are exactly the same, so the games have no choice but to be region free

but with some games you cant multiplay using 2 of the same games from different regions if that makes sence

All DS games are region free. Some games may work or not work when in local wireless multiplay i.e. you won't be able to share stuff between a U.S gamecard version of Animal Crossing with a Japanese version of the same game etc.

Once the new DSi comes out in our shores, DSi exclusive only games WILL be region locked. So remember that. But otherwise, normal DS games work the same rules as before.
