I'm liking the idea of playing my ds online, but at the moment i've got a wired netgear router. Now i wanted to try it before i bought anything wireless.

I've borrowed a belink wireless ethernet bridge from a friend just to see if i can connect. Any ideas on how i can get this to work, if at all?

I've tried the bridge in one of the switch ports on the router, searched for an access point. no joy! Same with plugging the bridge straight into the modem!

Anyone got any ideas?

The DS is pretty picky unfortunately, even if it can pick up the network then getting a connection to Nintendo WiFi doesn't work with all routers (Don't know the technical reasons why). Not sure if you could get it working with what you have.

If you want to try it out then go to a McDonalds or somewhere with a WiFi hotspot and try it. If you do want to buy something that would work with the DS then Buffalo routers are the way to go, they're properly certified by Nintendo and from personal experience are very good all round. Another thing to bear in mind is that the DS can only support WEP encryption so any network you run for your DS will have to just usa WEP.

Oh, also online DS gaming is great fun :D

Yep, nothing like beating someone at tetris while on the loo. :D Anyway, I'm using a speedtouch router with WEP, and the DS works fine. It could be pot luck which router works, it's a shame you can't "try before you buy" when it comes to routers.

Hmm thanks for the replies guys, it's a bit of a pain in the backside.

Ideally i would like a wireless router for future expansion. I suppose i could buy one and just plug it in when i want to play the ds, and unplug the wired router from the modem.

If you know what i mean :)
