Nintendo Playstation goes up for sale

Not heard of that one before

It's a Gameboy that got recovered in the Gulf War when it got bombed/explosion, it is partially melted and the Tetris cart is pretty stuck into it, and it still works.

Best thing to happen to it. I hated gameboys with a passion. It was all about the Sega game gear for me.

Just think, if it wasn't for that contract.....consoles would be very different today.

Most likely a nintendo version of the PS4 running Mario and no switch.

The story of the Nintendo Playstation is very interesting. There are some great videos on YouTube covering it, including a teardown and restore of the the device.
Sadly there doesn't appear to be any benefit of the CD drive over what the standard cartridge slot provided (other than being able to listen to music CD's :p ) as there are no games developed to take advantage of the hardware. (The system specs are pretty much the same as the the standard SNES).

Metal Jesus Rocks on Youtube has one. Very interesting bit of tech.

No he hasn't.

He's got a Nintendo 64DD. Something only released in Japan. Except his appears to be a fully ready to go US version as it doesn't support any of the Japanese games. Also pretty unique.

They made 100 of them didn't they?

Nope. This is the only known example of the Nintendo Playstation.

I thought this was the only known one in private hands, not that it is the only one ever made. Quite a difference.
Still the only known example in existence.

They probably made significant numbers of test and debug units (seen around 200 mentioned places), but this is the only one that has ever been seen by mere mortals. ;)
The fact that this unit looks pretty close to production (in a custom made shell, not a huge mass of jumper wires and bodges, actually has branding on it) shows that it was quite a way along the development process. But still the only one that's been seen.

And even that is more than we've ever seen for the SNES-CD ROM. Only got concept art for the SNES CD-ROM drive.
