Evening all, I've just bought my son a Nintendo Switch for his birthday. Now we've upgraded the storage on it, he's loving it and takes it when he goes out

My question is..I've got 500mb fibre broadband at home, most the house is wired but WiFi gets 350mb upstairs.

I tried the switch because it seemed really slow when downloading an update for Fortnite and it was only getting 30-35mb! The WiFi strength didn't even show as full strength when next to the access point either

Is this right? Is there anything we can do to improve it?

You'll not be alone in this. The Switch WiFi can be great for one person and terrible for another. It's probably a combination of router/cheap ass WiFi chipset/compatibility and eShop infrastructure.

YMMV, but you can change the MTU in the connection settings from 1400 to 1500. People have reported that improves speeds somewhat.

For reference, I get 40mb down using the Switch connection test next to my router, whilst all my other devices max my download speed.

Yea my kids one is really slow at downloading as well.

Even though I've got 500mb FTTP, and the router is literally....2 feet away from the switch.
