Hi there, I just thought I would share my impressions on the blaze componant cable and wii with my hd ready projector.

My advice is dont bother trying to put your wii on a massive screen it looksy horrible and you will be dissapointed! '

If your used to using hd from xbox360 or similar you will be shocked at the blured and lackluster picture quality.

My advice is to use a normal 21 inch or more crt tv, that is what I have done, just left the wii in the living room so me and the wife can play wii sports!

1 cable getting put up for sale!

Sorry I should have took some pictures :(

You've done exactly what I have. The Wii is staying downstairs but all the other consoles are upstairs on my projector.

Not just because the wii looks loads better on a big CRT but because of the type of games I suppose. If I have non-gamer people round then it's easier to get them to have a play on the wii in the front room rather than dragging them all upstairs to a dark room to have a quick bash at wii sports etc.

If it's my mates then theres no probs going up to my lair for some PES or whatev but the wii is really living up to its intentions of being a family console.

Anyone tried hooking up the Wii to a Dell 2407 via component? I tried using composite but it looks horrid everything is blurred and some colours dont display right, was wondering if the quality would be better using compnents

I have. Wiisports, the dashboard, wiiplay, Red Steel and especially monkey ball look far better. Zelda isn't THAT much of an improvement, but then again it is a port from the GC so not that surprising.

Overall it's better, but not a massive improvement like the 360 has when using component/vga.

With a new screen like that you can guarantee that the composite input was built as cheaply as possible. If your screen takes component then you should use it, especially as there will be no VGA leads available for the Wii in the near future.

cool are you using the official cables or 3rd party and how much did it set you back?

I tried my Wii out on my 32" LCD TV. Sports looks fine, but Zelda is bit of a mess. Going from composite scart to RGB scart on the XBox made a world of difference, so I'm hoping for at least the same when going to component powered 480p on the Wii.

Remember that the wii will look worse on a monitor through component than on an lcd tv through component due to the lack of scaler/engine processor etc.

Just got my component cable today and the difference between 480i and 480p really is amazing. Zelda looks so much better, i must have been playing in a fog cloud the whole time on composite!

Hopefully getting a component cable tomorrow! Is it really worth the effort!?!?

Running my wii on a Sammy R74 32" and looks awful, still fun as hell though!

I'd say it's worth up to £20. Don't think i'd pay more than that, considering it effectively takes the cost of the console to just a smidge under £200
