My sisters nintendo wii which has had very light use wont read any disks that are inserted.

They have now said i can have it

Anyone with any ideas as to how i could fix it.....

Its 3 months out of warranty btw.

Ill get the correct error code in a moment when i connect it up.

thx

edit i can connect to the net and ive done a update, but when i try the news channel or the forecast channel, it just goes to a black screen then locks and i have to unplug it

edit2 if i put a disk in, i get the following.

The disk starts spinning on the nintendo wii menu then i get a the message

an error has occured. press the eject button and remove the disk then turn the wii console off and refer to the wii operations manual for trouble shooting.

Anyone with ideas?>

Give nintendo a ring, im sure they'd fix it for a fee but im not entirely sure on this. From my friends experience they have the best customer support going on all the consoles.

I dont know whats going on with the channel locks but disk read erros are usually caused by dirty lenses. Nintendo do a lense cleaning kit which may be worth a shot.

its been used a handful of times and always packaged away i the box after use. so i dont think its that how ever i will try

My 6 month old Wii was doing exactly the same and I sent it back to Nintendo in the end.

It got worse and worse so give them a ring asap.

Sorry.
