Hiya, my friend is getting a wii for her birthday so me and friends are buying some extra things for it;
So far we have;

1 x nunchuck
1 x wiimote
1 x SD Card 2GB

What else do we need? Rechargable batteries? Does it come with them? What about chargers etc?

Want Mario Kart but out of stock everywhere :(

I'd probably have to say Zelda unless she's only buying it for "Casual" games with friends. Also I dont think an SD card is needed unless a lot (and I mean a lot) of VC use will be going on.

It's gonna be casual games, so not to worried about games, more about hardware and essential accessories?

Whats best? A charging stand? Any particular batteries etc etc?

No need for an SD card.

wii points, component cable, 2500/2700mah rechargeable batteries, spare wiimote + nunchuck and 2 gamecube controllers.

Apart from that it's just the games.

She's only got a CRT tv at the moment so won't need the component yet, but it will be a future purchase!

For the rechargable batteries, is it better to buy 4 that come with a charger, or to buy 4and buy a docking charging station?

I've found it just as easy with 2700mAh batteries that came with a charger, then at least you've got a charger for other batteries. Pretty much as Kreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee said (:p) but I wouldn't worry about Gamecube pads.

Component cable
Extra Wiimote(s)

Games worth considering:
Mario Kart
Resident Evil 4
Mario Galaxy
Warioware Smooth Moves
Metroid Prime 3
Wii Fit

Reserve Mariokart mate, you will most likely be waiting forever. I would get an extra Nunchuck and Wiiplay.

Rayman Raving Rabbids and Mario Galaxy.

Rayman for the multiplayer and Mario Galaxy for some casual single player games.

I'd say Rayman Raving Rabbids over Warioware... also add Guitar Hero 3 to the list, and Zelda: Twilight Princess (best bang per buck Wii game released so far).

For VC games, definitely get Bomberman '93, the Mario games, Street Fighter and Sonic.

I'd also say to get a couple of Gamecube controllers (Wavebirds if you can find them) as there is a huge list of Gamecube games you don't want to miss out on... top of my list is Donkey Konga with at least 2 sets of bongos.

Also, keep an eye out for Samba De Amigo and Super Smash Bros: Brawl, which are both being released soon.
