NIP for reg spacing

On the subject of plates...

With EVs being issued with a green bar at one end, can petrol cars have red, and diesels black?

You can just get one made up by a plate making site :p

TBH the green square is a bit of a "look at me I'm special" (but not in a good way) kind of thing.

Even if I did, I'm sure the postman wouldn't have a breakdown over it and ask me to burn my house down.
Do you think ANPR is a human in the background quickly typing up the registrations like you think the postman is responsible for routing your letter? :p

Do you cry when you see an illegal plate?

This is such a pointless argument. Spacing does not stop legibility of a number plate (or a postcode).

I personally think any plate that doesn't conform to the standards as set out by the DVLA deserves a fine and run by the 3 strike rule, 3rd time caught the car should be seized and crushed.
Out of every stupid butthurt comment in this thread, this is the best.

Not convinced it’s a good use of police time. Interestingly, on another forum I am on one of the members got pulled and also feels hard done by not least as he ordered them online and put them on and the spacing was 10mm out.

My view…

We have rules, follow them. If you get pulled then it’s luck of the draw. You did the crime take the time (or something that rhymes better). You get nicked for speeding moan, but you were speeding. You get nicked for no front plate moan, but you had no front plate. Yea the police could be doing something much more worthy, but they weren’t on that day.

Are you purposefully trying to start an argument you keep posting about butthurt but seem to be the most triggered, has your mangina been giving you hassle today?

Let me ask you this, are you happy with people continually breaking the law and is it all laws that don’t apply to you or just a few you deem aren’t important?

Do you realise how pathetic you sound? Asking for a car to be crushed for incorrectly spaced plates.

If you read the post I said a 3 strike rule, if you are stupid enough to get caught 3 times then you are either extremely dumb or one of those “This law doesn’t apply to me so I’m not complying with it” either way a seized and crushed car should maybe be a wake up call. Not sure what’s pathetic about wanting laws enforced but whatever I think apologists who think certain laws shouldn’t be enforced are pathetic but that’s just me maybe I’ve just got different values to everyone else.

The law is an ass.

Whatever the original reason was for putting spaces in a reg, it's become enshrined in the law and therefore you must comply. I get that. I've paid the fine and fitted compliant plates.

What I don't get is the point of actually having a space, and if there is one, why it's so vital that the space has the be in a certain place, based on how long the reg is and when it was issued.

In work we have to enter the reg with no spaces to retrieve the vehicle. The actual NIP displayed my reg without a space. As others have said, the space being in a different place didn't stop my reg being recognised and a fine being issued. The space clearly isn't some vital part or road safety, it's just there because of tradition.

Ok come on then, we bite - show a pic of your plate.
I said above I don't have a personalised or oddly spaced plate. I just don't see why people get so bent out of shape about it. Sure it's the law, but it's not the same as jumping a red light or doing 60 in a 30.

Well technically one is deeply premeditated and planned, the others could be innocent mistakes. Check mate butthurt boy!
