NIP possible?

If one were to be pulled by multiple cars, saying they were looking for a car of matching description, simply took name/dob and let you go. Possibility of follow up?

none, if pulled they have to make you aware that you'll receive a NIP

Why would there be? Were you breaking the law?

Er no - if they intended to prosecute they would have issued a ticket there and then. The point of an NIP ("Notice of Intended Prosecution") is that it is issued where the driver was not stopped, and asks the driver to admit that they were driving at the time of the alleged offence. It would be very silly to stop a car, establish who the driver was, but not issue a ticket if they wanted to prosecute.
