What do you tend to do with your nlite installs? I had a go last night, removed about 250mb of stuff and put in ie7, msn live and avg. Forgot a few fields on the automation so need to run through that again. Thank god for vmware :D

edit: didnt install any drivers on this one coz im testing in vmware on another machine so I guess it'll fall over?

I remove stuff I don't need such as the Help and Support feature, I've never used that ever. I also get rid of the Tour feature. I also integrate my drivers and automate the process so I can bung the disc in and relax.

I've never actually worked out how to add my own programs in. I'd love to have Winamp installed along with FF and TB, uTorrent etc. I've just never understood how to. Any chance you could tell me what you did? :)

Dunno if its the right way but go here:

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=132

Download whatever you want and install it on erm... i think its called addons or hotfixes. Bledd is the best person for this.

Cheers. I think I've been there before. The one thing that stopped me using those was me wondering if I could specify the install locations and other settings. For example, heaven for me would be getting nLite to install Winamp to a certain directory AND get the registry key and other settings essential to me already setup when I run Windows for the first time post-nLited-install. Is is possible to specify those settings?

Is that an alternative to nlite? or addons for it?
Update addons for it. There is the 2.1.3 pack at the moment which has all the updates released for XP up to and including last months updates. You add the .7z pack in as a hotfix I think. nLite then installs all the updates.

What tweaks do you people add? Thats in the tweaks section ;)

Most important add details view as default and disable all pop-up ballons/tips plus a whole host of others.

add details view as default

What does this do?

its like doing right click in explorer, view, details,

then set to all folders :)

-in nlite i use the ryanvm pack, i remove all media player things, but keep IE6 for windows update, i dont bother putting WMP10/11 or IE7 in, because they're useless to me and i'd never use them

my disc is about 115mb windows, the rest is things like media player classic, winamp, firefox, o&odefrag, 7zip, filezilla

i use the $OEM$ folders to get them on the pc, look on msfn for guides for that..

i put mpc, winamp and filezilla in a programs.7z file, then extract it to program files, becuase none of those 3 programs need installing

You can always use virtualPC to test your iso before installing ;)

Quick question about Nlite, I have an XP Pro upgrade CD which requires me to put in a valid windows 95/98/NT etc disc while installing, can Nlite deal with an upgrade edition? I'm sick of using it as it's doesn't have any service packs integrated and it takes a bloody age to download and install SP2 and all the hotfixes.
