Hi there,

I am slipstreaming my Windows 2K.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of all the updates and stuff for it?

Also, Can I slipstream programs into it such as Firefox, AVG Ffree, Firewall....etc...?

If so...how?

You mean like service packs and hotfixes? You can either download them manually via Windows Update by checking the update history. This is pretty labourious though. There is a site by some guy called Ryan who compiles XP updates into a file that can be inserted into an nLite install. Yeah you can integrate pretty much anything it seems. Found some very interesting stuff on the nLite forums. It seems as if you can put everything you'd normally install after a new Windows install INTO the actual Windows install. Such as Winamp, NOD32, ZoneAlarm, Office even. Pretty amazing. Typically though I want to learn how to do that myself rather than use other people's stuff.

On the Microsoft site they have all the Windows updates at the windows update page, they also have all the updates on seperate pages with more details and a download link which will let you download the msi/exe/installer, look for those pages. Best way is to put the update number into Google, the top page should be it ;)

Well the problem is, that I don't actually know the update numbers.

I have already Slipstreamed Service pack 4 and the "Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4" but I don't know what the other updates are?

Windows Update keeps a history of the updates you've installed so you just need to look at it and for each one open the link to the page for that update and use the manual download link.
 
I am running Windows XP Home on this machine

I am wanting to install Windows 2k on a machine that doesnt ahve internet access so I wanted to slipstream all the updates.

Would have thought so. Now I run a copy of XP that is SP2 from the off I don't have to install as many updates as before I had a copy of XP Pro SP2. So it stands to reason that SP4 installs everything up-to-and including SP4, leaving you with the stuff released after SP4.

Thanks for everybody's help, I have now slipstreamed SP4 and am going to slipstream the Unofficall SP5, but do I slipsteam it as a service pack in nLite or a Hotfix?

Just one more question, does this have all the software updates like IE6 and Dot net etc.....DirectX...?

Hotfix I think for the SP5. I would have thought that IE6 stuff would be in the service packs, .Net and DirectX wouldn't be in the service packs. You'd need to get them in manually.

Yeah, it seems as if MP9 or DX9.0c haven't already been done on that forum so you'd have to make your own. Are you on MSN? If you are could I add you? I'd like to make my own installers so I have that skill. I just don't know how to do all that. It talks about some svcpack.inf, where do I find that? Any idea?

I did, I haven't worked out how to do it yet. Still looking for a thread that tells you how to do so as I don't want to repost an old topic.

Er sorry for the double post, but I have another question. If I wanted Winamp to be installed into a particular directory and choose some installation options such as not installing the Agent or the visualisations but installing the Media library and MP3/Ogg encoding stuff, can I do that in nlite? Is this what the advanced options you mention can do? And what does "Remove Cat files" mean exactly?
